  1. Post #1 – Trends to Come out of MOOCs

Massive Open Online Courses have resulted in many trends within Adult Education. Two of those trends are collaborating seamlessly and humanizing interactions.

Collaboration in the recent past has mostly been considered an extra and something that was not to be expected. However, with the new age of MOOCs collaboration is becoming a necessity. This new normal of collaboration is not only an increase in social interaction but works towards creating diversity in learning.

Humanizing interactions with MOOCs had been criticized for the lack thereof of the human touch. However, with the advancement of several online platforms it has become increasing more easy to connect with others in the online learning environment.

  2. Post #2 – Implications to Come out MOOCs

Over the coming years I may be asked to instruct blended and 100% online courses. This will require that I take additionally training in the areas of online instructing. These online areas may include software, instructing and assessments.

The online interfaces at this point are somewhat challenging but should be overcome through additional training courses. It is likely that my transition from face-to-face instructing to online/blended instructing will have its bumps in the road. However, with adequate training, practice and mentorship I am confident that I can bridge this gap. Additionally, a better understanding of student assessments within the online learning environment will require me to take additional training.

  3. Post #3 – “Aha” Moment to Come out of MOOCs

One of the things that I learned that caused me to reflect the most was the concept that MOOCs are starting deliver effective human interactions. This article goes so far as to suggest that face-to-face learning environments will need to adjust so as to create more meaningful face-to-face teaching interactions otherwise they risk becoming a thing of the past.

For me the online learning environment has been a bit of struggle especially with the lack of face-to-face interactions. However, this struggle has opened my mind to different ways of learning and hopefully a more well-rounded approach to adult education.
